www.learningdslrvideo.com I did a review of this lens a long time ago only after using it for one weekend, now that I have had this lens for over a year I thought I would talk more about how I use this lens. All the footage you just saw was from my family vacation to San Diego was taken with the Canon 28-135mm zoom lens and more importantly it was all shot handheld, just the bare camera and lens no other equipment besides a camera strap. This lens really shines in outdoor use when I and running and gunning, a zoom lens is a must for me, there is no way I can follow my kids while changing out multiple prime lenses, that is just not going to happen. I like to travel light with just one lens in situations like Sea World. My favorite thing about this lens is the IS Image Stabilization. I am kind of cheating here because I am using slow motion which makes it look even smoother but it makes me look like a pro even though I am not using any other extra gear. It really doesn't work as well inside, so I try not to use it too much indoors because the lens is not very fast at all compared to a prime. Also over the past year I have compared it to many other lenses I have reviewed (mostly primes) and I can tell you it has always been the least sharpest lens. I don't use it for interviews or low light situations, but it is my go to run and gun outdoor lens. DIY dslr camera track slider dolly

DIY dslr camera track slider dolly Video Clips. Duration : 0.90 Mins.

Using some old tot train tracks, the 'bogies' removed from some old trains And my tripod head with a canon 550d dslr i created a simple track and dolly set up. I had to make a simple aluminium transporter baseplate using angle aluminium from a diy store (£10), to which everything was very simply attached/bolted. It's really smooth as long as the surface you set the tracks on are smooth. I'm also finding using a length of string helps smooth the flow. I have also used a cordless drill to wind the string in, creating an extremely smooth consistent 'track' shot.
